TfL told to reduce Tube noise and vibrations

The London Assembly backed City Hall Tories' call today for TfL to make Tube noise reduction a priority . The Assembly unanimously supported Tony Devenish AM's motion which also called for "the adoption of tighter public health standards on both Tube noise and excessive vibrations". Tony Devenish, Conservative London Assembly Member for West Central, commented:

“Tube noise and excessive vibrations blight the lives of many Londoners and unacceptably Transport for London has had tin hear to the issue for far too long. “Tube noise and vibrations can cause serious health problems and misery as Londoners living above the Underground struggle to sleep a wink. It’s time TfL recognised the severity of this problem. By introducing tighter public health standards, we can force TfL into action. “Londoners are sick of TfL promising action, but failing to deliver. After today’s vote in the London Assembly, I hope the Mayor and TfL will begin to look at long-term solutions to tackle this problem seriously.”
